Jailbreak 101 Episode 8 – 3G Unrestrictor

September 9th, 2009 Stwo Comments

Ever wonder why you can’t download files larger than 10MB from the appStore or iTunes while on 3G or EDGE? Me too. Does it piss you off that you can only use Skype for the iPhone while on a wi-fi connection? Me too. It makes me wonder why I have a computer in my pocket that cannot use the cellular network I pay for to perform data-intensive activites. Don’t get me started on tethering.

Thanks to 3G Unrestrictor, all of the above mentioned problems (except tethering, grrrr) can easily be solved. 3G Unrestrictor simply fools your device into thinking it is on wi-fi when it isn’t. Try it. You can thank me later.

The Light At The End Of A Dark Tunnel Named Unemployment

August 27th, 2009 Stwo Comments

Now, that I am no longer unemployed, I feel much more comfortable sharing the details of being unemployed. I have always prided myself on being a hard working, dedicated, and passionate employee of whatever company I have worked for. Thanks to an awful economy, I was laid off from my job in February.

Jailbreak 101 Episode 6 – Backgrounder

August 19th, 2009 Stwo Comments

In this segment, I discuss an app that brings you as close as possible to multitasking on your device.  While backgrounder is in no way perfect, it can and does a decent amount of background processing on your phone. It’s only real limitation is the small amount of RAM on your device.

How (not?) To Maintain A Relationship With A Non-Geek (part 1)

August 7th, 2009 Stwo Comments

I’ve been thinking on this topic for quite a while and now that the blog is up, I have an outlet to express my feelings on this sensitive topic.  When I first met my girlfriend (going forward she will be known as Noodles, to protect her anonymity), about a year ago, we were completely enraptured with one another from the very first moment.  I am so lucky to have met a woman with her sense of humor, intelligence, determination, perseverance, and of course, beauty.   We spent countless days and nights together, sharing our thoughts and feelings on everything imaginable.  I definitely clued her in on my love for technology, and I’m sure she could tell that I had some geek in me from looking at my apartment.  I had the PC hooked up to the HD-TV, the iPhone, the Xbox 360, and a slew of other gadgets.  We even played some games together occasionally.  In fact, I was not even ashamed to tell her I was a World of Warcraft player. (I no longer play, but that’s another story)  She seemed to appreciate my geekiness as a charming part of my character.  Fast forward to 1 year later, and it seems to be causing a bit of a rift between us.  It is no longer charming, but quite the opposite.  I have definitely rubbed off on her with some things, but there are still many other points of contention between us, all related to geekery.
